You can help spread the word and help protect Manitobans while improving access to counselling therapy. These print-outs can be posted on bulletin boards or distributed in your community, workplace, or school.
Save and upload one of the 3 images below and share it to any and all social media profiles you have. A sample write up (that you can use as is or edit to be consistent with your own voice) can be found below. Share widely and tag accounts that have an interest in mental health. This might include clinics, politicians, or even individual accounts/content creators and local businesses.
In Manitoba, there is currently no regulation for counselling therapists.
This means:
No standardized education or competency requirements
No unified system to investigate complaints
No consistent accountability for unethical or harmful practice
Without regulation, anyone can call themselves a counsellor, even without the proper training or ethical oversight. This puts Manitobans at risk of emotional, psychological, and spiritual harm.
Regulation protects the public.
It ensures counsellors are qualified, ethical, and accountable—just like nurses, psychologists, and social workers.
