We recognize the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada (ACCT) as the premier community of counselling professionals. ACCT is synonymous with excellence in counselling.
CASC - Canadian Association for Spiritual Care - Manitoba Region CASC/ACSS is the leading association of spiritual care and psychospiritual therapy in Canada. With over 1200 diverse members across Canada, CASC/ACSS embraces a holistic approach to health and wellbeing, with a special focus on spiritual and religious care. CASC/ACSS provides educational programs for those preparing to become Certified Spiritual Care Practitioners, Certified Psychospiritual Therapists, and Certified Supervisor-Educators in a variety of institutional, community and private-practice settings. We also educate those who are preparing for ordained/commissioned religious leadership to have competence in providing spiritual care to their faith communities.
CATA - Canadian Art Therapy Association The Canadian Art Therapy Association (Association Canadienne d’Art Thérapie) was founded in 1977 to unite and promote the emerging profession of art therapy in Canada. CATA-ACAT works in cooperation with provincial art therapy associations to raise professional standards in the interest of public safety and trust. This includes upholding ethical standards; setting standards and processes for professional and registered designations for art therapists; working with art therapy training programs to ensure that they meet CATA’s educational standards; publishing a tri-annual online magazine and bi-annual academic journal, support and encouraging research about art therapy and raising awareness about of art therapy in Canada. Our mission is to steward the profession of art therapy in Canada while cultivating an inclusive Canadian art therapy community through establishing standards, offering career development to members, advocating for and supporting the profession. We envision a world where everyone can heal and flourish through connection and creativity. We see ourselves as guided by the five key values of: the collective voices of our members, a commitment to art therapy best practices, inclusion & diversity, collaboration, creativity, and innovation, and integrity and accountability in action.
CCPA - Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association The Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) is a national bilingual association that promotes the profession of counselling and psychotherapy and its contribution to the mental health and well-being of all Canadians. We strive to increase awareness about the role of the profession in all healthcare, educational and industry sectors. We ensure the professional and ethical conduct of our members through our Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and support cultural diversity. We provide a professional certification, CCC, and a professional supervision certification, CCS which set high standards for the profession across the country.
CPCA - Canadian Professional Counsellors Association The Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA) is a nationally recognized, independent, self-regulated, non-profit organization registered in accordance with the National Corporate Registry of Canada. The Association is governed by a National Board of Directors which is elected by its members from all regions across Canada. The CPCA has an established regulatory framework for its members that is built on the foundations of competency and compliance in both registration and discipline. We are dedicated to the promotion of public confidence and trust in the counselling profession from coast to coast to coast.
MTAM - Music Therapy Association of Manitoba Music therapy is a discipline in which Certified Music Therapists (MTAs) use music purposefully within therapeutic relationships to support development, health, and well-being. Music therapists use music safely and ethically to address human needs within cognitive, communicative, emotional, musical, physical, social, and spiritual domains. MTAM is a provincial chapter of CAMT.
NADTA - North American Drama Therapists Association The North American Drama Therapy Association is an association that represents Registered Drama Therapists in Canada, the United States and Mexico. A Registered Drama Therapist (RDT) is certified in the practice of drama therapy, and follows the NADTA Code of Ethics, the NADTA Scope of Practice, and the Standards of Practice. Drama therapy is the intentional use of drama and/or theatre processes to achieve counselling goals related to the full range of mental health challenges across the lifespan. The theoretical foundation of drama therapy and training of drama therapists lies in psychology and psychotherapy, anthropology, drama, theatre, play, and interactive and creative processes. Drama therapy is an embodied practice that is active and experiential, and through drama, the depth and breadth of inner experience can be actively explored, re-narrated and integrated to achieve improved day to day functioning, relationships and quality of life. The educational requirements for the RDT involve: A master's or doctoral degree in drama therapy from a program accredited by the North American Drama Therapy Association OR a master's or doctoral degree in a mental health profession with additional in-depth training in drama therapy through NADTA's alternative training program.
OEATA – Ontario Expressive Arts Therapy Association The Ontario Expressive Arts Therapy Association serves as an association for expressive arts therapists and related practitioners in Canada (from coast to coast to coast –including Manitoba), that promotes and maintains the competent and ethical practice of expressive arts therapy. The association recognizes and fosters the essential values of imagination and creative expression through the arts in mental health therapy and psychotherapy.
PACCP - Professional Association of Christian Counsellors and Psychotherapists The Professional Association of Christian Counsellors and Psychotherapists is a national association of professional clinicians in Canada whose Vision is that we are committed to being Canada’s premier Christian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, ensuring that every Canadian has access to clinically excellent, professional, compassionate, and trustworthy Christian counseling and psychotherapy.
RAFT- Relational and Family Therapists of Manitoba The Relational and Family Therapists of Manitoba (RAFT-MB) is the Manitoba branch of the Canadian Association for Couple and Family Therapy (CACFT/ACTCF) and represents professionals who work from relational, systemic, and family-based approaches to mental health care. RAFT-MB supports therapists and serves the public by promoting high standards of practice, fostering professional connection and dialogue, and providing access to education, training, resources, and mentorship. Through collaboration with CACFT/ACTCF and government and community partners, RAFT-MB advances the profession of relational and family therapy while advocating for equitable access to quality mental health services for Manitobans. RAFT-MB is also a member of FACT-MB, with the explicit goal of advocating for the regulation of counselling therapists in Manitoba to enhance public protection and professional accountability.
FACT-MB came together in 2016 from a group that had been concerned about the need for regulation of Counselling Therapy and had been meeting under various titles since 2013. We joined with other FACT committees across Canada who were also seeking regulation. FACT-Manitoba’s Executive Board consists of a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Indigenous Consultant, and a Communications Director. In addition, there are representatives and alternates from 10 associations of counselling therapists with a variety of specializations. The Executive members are members of the committee. FACT-Manitoba represents a varied group of professional psychotherapists and counsellors, as well as students.
